Looking Down Farm

Looking Down Farm is a small family farm in Oxford, Maine.  Five generations

of the Marr and Herrick families have lived on this farm.  Looking Down Farm

covers 10 acres of what was once a much larger family farm on the shores of

beautiful Whitney Pond. Several other parcels of the original farm are owned

by other family members.

We raise a variety of naturally grown vegetables, herbs and cut flowers. We

hope to expand our growing area in the near future to include more vegetables as well as a

variety of both berries and larger tree fruit.

We are not certified organic but follow most of the practices in the organic guidelines. We raise our crops without the use of synthetic/chemical pesticides and herbicides and feel strongly that  a healthy soil enriched by the use of cover crops and high quality compost and natural soil amendments will grow the best and healthiest crops possible, not only now but for future generations.  Our love of the land demands that we produce food in a matter that will be as beneficial to our soil as possible.

We are strong believers in the higher quality and other benefits of well grown local food. We chose the varieties we feel taste the best, not based on which ones are best for perfect packing and long distance shipping. Most of our produce is picked not longer than the day before selling and transported no more than the roughly 15 miles from the farm to the Harrison Farmers Market.
